Explanation:  Welcome back to Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve, in the southern bayou country of Louisiana, southeast United States.  We have visited here previously and enjoyed the incredible plants and animals of this ecosystem, including beautiful wildflowers, turtlesskinks, anoles, cooters, and dangerous predators ...

... and treefrogs.  This week, a cousin we are observing is the bronze frog, a common and vocal amphibian of the Deep South U.S.  They often hide under vegetation near ponds and creeks and remain solitary, so I was pleased to find this specimen enjoying the deep shade along the bayou.

So popular is this species that you can actually buy a garden statue of it!
