Grey-headed Kingfisher

Explanation:  Here in a wonderful national park in northern Tanzania, is the Grey-headed (or Chestnut-bellied) Kingfisher.  

As some field guides note, the species adheres to dry country and its prey includes large insects and lizards.  It is also found along rivers, streams, and in open woodland environments.


When the bird takes flight, the blue on the tail and on the wings becomes very noticeable.
