Hippo Pool Like You've Never Seen |
Hippo Pool, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, east Africa |
Credit & Copyright: Dr. Bruce G. Marcot
Explanation: Enjoy the view. Ignore the ... scent. We are in the heart of Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania, east Africa. It is the seventh year of an extended drought, in the dry season. The waterways and pools are at an extreme low, forcing animals into uncomfortable congregations and densities. Hippos are nervous and aggressive beasts in any situation, but this situation is testing their compatibility like no other.
